Alpine Skiing - Every Turn Counts

Speed. Balance. Precision. And the excitement of finding your own way down the mountain.

Picture yourself at the top of a snowy slope. Below you, colourful gates mark a winding course. You push off, gather speed and focus on the next turn. Then the next. In alpine skiing, every movement matters.

Athletes race downhill through a series of gates, combining speed with technical skill, balance and quick decisions. It is thrilling to watch because skiers are always searching for the best line: fast enough to gain time, controlled enough to stay on course.

Beyond the stopwatch, alpine skiing is also about learning, persistence and the simple joy of moving through the mountains.

Each event brings a different challenge to the same mountain.

Flow. Speed. Control.

In Giant Slalom, the gates are farther apart than in Slalom. That means longer, sweeping turns and an exciting balance between building speed and choosing the right path through the course.

What to watch for: Clean, flowing turns, body position and the way a skier carries speed down the slope.

Quick Turns. Fast Reactions.

Slalom is a test of agility and rhythm. Skiers weave through closely spaced gates, changing direction again and again while trying to keep their speed. One missed movement can make a big difference.

What to watch for: Rapid turns, the skier's timing and how smoothly they move from one gate to the next.

Side by Side. Stronger Together.

Two skiers race at the same time on parallel courses, bringing head-to-head excitement to alpine skiing. Individual races contribute to a team result, making every run an opportunity to support one another.

What to watch for: The side-by-side action, close finishes and the energy of teammates cheering each other on.
